This spring, my old hiking shoes finally wore out, so I needed a new pair. While I'm not an avid hiker, I prefer hiking shoes because they are more durable than tennis shoes, look good enough for sales calls, and are useful for fishing and hunting trips. Hiking shoes fit well with my lifestyle, not to mention they make me look more athletic than I am!
Knowing that Bigfoot Mountain Outfitters started carrying Danner, I decided to check out their selection. They offer the Trail 2650 GTX Mid and the regular Trail 2650.
Here is some information on the 2650 from the Danner website.
With 2,650 miles, the Pacific Crest Trail provides a wide variety of terrain over its epic expanse. Whether you’re out for the weekend, a few miles or are looking to get some serious mileage, the PCT has something for you. It’s that need for versatility that inspired our Trail 2650. Built to move quickly and confidently through the terrain of your choosing, the Trail 2650 can easily fill the role of a lightweight hiker or trainer. Using a Trailguard TPU shank and an EXO Heel System, the Trail 2650 is both lightweight and provides stability on challenging grounds.
I figured that if it's good enough for the Pacific Coast Trail, then it would definitely be durable enough for me. So, I tried both pairs on and found that I preferred the fit, feel, and look of the standard Trail 2650. The first two things that stood out about the Danner 2650 Trail were their lightness and comfort, which was a significant change from what I usually wear. The color (Oil Green/Jet Black) is cool too, and it definitely gives me the appearance of being much more athletic than I actually am!
I tested them out yesterday, and I must say, I love them for activities like walking Mack, having a BBQ on the patio, and meeting clients. As I mentioned before, I'm not an avid hiker, but this type of shoe suits my lifestyle perfectly.
As an added bonus , I get all these great features including Danner's 365 day warranty!
