Fresh Blackberry S'mores are a true summertime treat in the PacificNorthwest!
August in the Pacific Northwest means blackberry season is in full swing. Everywhere you turn, overgrown blackberry bushes burst with big, juicy berries begging to be picked. While these summer gems are delicious in pies or jams, my favorite way to enjoy them is in a fresh blackberry s'more, toasted over a crackling campfire.

Blackberries are plentiful in August in the PNW.
Whether you're camping in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest or relaxing in your backyard, blackberries are abundant this time of year. Take a short stroll, and you’re bound to find a bush laden with ripe berries. Grab a bucket or bag, gather your haul, and head back to your campsite or kitchen to prep them.
To clean your harvest, place the blackberries in a colander and rinse gently with cold water. Spread them on paper towels to dry, picking out any stray stems, leaves, or debris as you go. Let them sit briefly, and they’re ready to transform your s'mores.

Make sure to clean your blackberry harvest first!
Making blackberry s'mores is a breeze. all you need are graham crackers, fresh blackberries and marshmallows. Start with a graham cracker base, add a few fresh blackberries, and roast your marshmallow to golden perfection over the fire. Slide the gooey marshmallow onto the berries, top with another graham cracker, and give it a gentle smush. Voilà—blackberry s'mores!
All you need are fresh blackberries, graham crackers, marshmallows and a campfire to make these PNW Summer Treats!
Savor this fresh twist on a classic summer treat, and let the sweet-tart burst of Pacific Northwest blackberries elevate your campfire game.
