Bill Matthews Fish Art
Fishing has been my full-time passion and way of life for over 30 years. At the heart of it all, I just love fishing, every single bit of it. That love of fishing naturally extends to the incredible artwork it inspires.
Several years ago I discovered gyotaku, the traditional Japanese art of fish printing. What immediately pulled me in was the honest, complete cycle of catching the fish, creating the print, and then cleaning and eating the fish with nothing wasted. I love that respectful, no-waste approach because it feels like a perfect extension of how I’ve always lived my time on the water.
As a self-taught gyotaku artist, I set out to build a personal collection of all the fish species in the Pacific Northwest using real fish I’ve caught myself. My collection is now nearly complete, and I’m excited to start sharing these prints with everyone. Each one carries its own story from my days on the water, it is a record of the PNW fishing experience in our time and my hope is that it will be passed down through generations to remember the fish and fishermen of this era.

ABOUT

Bill Matthews Outdoors (BMO)
I've been in the fishing business for over 30 years. In that time I've partnered with many of the top brands in the industry, worked with retailers nationwide, and earned awards for sales, marketing and product innovation. I took a lifelong passion for fishing and made it my full-time way of life. But at the heart of it? I just love fishing, every bit of it. From kayak sessions to offshore runs, crappie to tuna, the catch, the crew, the remote spots, the cooking, the artwork, and those epic, once in a lifetime moments. That's what I live for, and that's what I share here: tips, stories, recipes, gear breakdowns, and real adventures.
Thanks for joining the ride and supporting the brands that make it all possible.
Life is short so remember to FISH MORE, work less!
